The portion of Alaskans’ PFDs that have been withheld by the state should be immediately distributed to Alaskans in the form of a coronavirus tax rebate.

At the height of the 2008 financial crisis, Alaskans received a $1,200 Energy Rebate to offset the higher costs of energy that year.

Today, Alaskans are in the midst of not only a financial crisis, but also an economic crisis, with costs that no Alaskan family could have anticipated or budgeted for.

Alaskans have been forced to watch their dividends be taxed for four years in a row.

The portion of permanent fund dividends that has been withheld by the state now totals $5,044 for each Alaskan. This amount should be immediately distributed to Alaskans as a tax rebate to help offset the high costs associated with the coronavirus.

I support the Coronavirus Tax Rebate!
