We have many challenges as a state, challenges that have been made worse by the crisis of leadership in the State House. However, there is also much to appreciate and be truly thankful for. The solutions to our state fiscal crisis are right before us. The Mat-Su Valley is a truly beautiful place to live (trust me, I lived in Afghanistan for a year when I was deployed in the Army, we don't wanna switch places). Having traveled with the military to places like Belarus and Washington, D.C., I consider every day a privilege that I and my family get to live here. There is no other place on this earth I would rather my children be born.
The fight today is now at our front door, and we must fight today for the next generation and every generation of Alaskans who will follow after. Will the freedoms and beauty we now enjoy be their heritage? It is up to us.
